Risk notice

Please read this before you trade real money with tradectl. It is short on purpose.

You can lose money

  • Trading crypto is risky. Prices can move fast and far, in minutes.
  • Trading futures with leverage can lose all the money in your exchange account. A position can be liquidated.
  • Only trade money you can afford to lose.

No promise of profit

  • We do not promise that any strategy makes money. This includes shot, the strategy that comes with the Lab.
  • A strategy comes with starting settings. They were tested on backtests. That is not a promise.
  • Markets change. A strategy that made money last month can lose money this month.
  • Nothing on our website, in the Lab, in the docs or in Telegram is financial advice.

Tests are not real trading

  • Demo (paper) mode is not live trading. In demo mode, orders fill in a simulation. On the exchange, orders fill less often and at worse prices. Demo results often look better than live results. Demo also fills some take-profits at prices the market did not reach.
  • Backtests and past results do not show future results. A backtest replays old market data. Real fills, fees, funding and delays are different.
  • Statistics on our website are past results of other accounts. Your results will be different.

The bot runs on your machine

The bot runs on your PC or on a server you rent. We do not run it for you. If that machine sleeps, restarts, loses internet, crashes or loses power, the bot stops. A bot that stops this way closes nothing:

  • Take-profit and stop-loss orders that are already on the exchange keep working.
  • A position on a virtual stop-loss has no stop at all until the bot is back. A virtual stop-loss lives inside the bot, not on the exchange.
  • A stop-loss that was not placed yet (because of the stop-loss delay) is missing.
  • Waiting entry orders stay on the exchange and can still fill. A position opened this way has no take-profit and no stop-loss.
  • A bot that starts again does not take back the orders and positions it left behind.

When you stop the bot in the Lab or with tradectl stop, it cancels its orders and closes its own positions at market price. Read If the computer or server goes down in the manual. For real money, use a server and a watchdog on a second machine.

Other risks

  • Software has bugs. Ours too. A bug can place, change or miss an order.
  • Exchanges can be slow, go down, reject orders, change their rules or freeze accounts.
  • Your exchange API key controls your money. Never give it withdrawal permission. Lock it to your server's IP.
  • Your pair key opens all your bots. Keep it secret and never paste it into a chat. Plugins (strategies) you install from our marketplace run on your machine, and they are not signed yet. See the Privacy Policy.
  • When your paid plan ends, your bots move to the Free limits. Open positions stay open.
  • Crypto and crypto futures may be restricted where you live. Check your local law and taxes.
